The excursion to Butterfly Valley (Petaloudes) and Farma of Rhodes petting zoo is one of the best nature excursions in Rhodes, especially for couples and families.
It is a day surrounded by forests, waterfalls, butterflies, animals and traditional countryside — cool and green compared with the beach areas.

Walk shaded forest trails, cross wooden bridges, and follow streams, ponds and small waterfalls as you climb the scenic pathways. In summer (June–September) thousands of Jersey tiger moths cluster on the tree trunks. It is a peaceful, cool and green place, with sweetgum trees, fresh mountain air, quiet walking paths and small lakes and streams.

A short drive away, this farm and petting zoo is home to ostriches, camels, kangaroos, llamas, ponies, goats, deer and lemurs. You can feed some of the animals, take photos and wander through the countryside farm at your own pace.
Couples and families who love nature, forests, waterfalls and animals.
The butterflies (Jersey tiger moths) gather from June to September; outside those months the valley is still a lush, green walk but without the moth clusters. Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring sunscreen.
